JUSTICE NETWORK DEBUTS CALLAHAN WALSH AS PART OF BESAFE INITIATIVE

Viewer Tip in Wichita Leads to Fugitive Capture

Atlanta, GA – January 30, 2017 – Justice Network, the free over the air broadcast network, is introducing a new face to the channel.  Callahan Walsh, son of Justice spokesman John Walsh and Child Advocate at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), is joining the network as part of its BeSAFE initiative.

Callahan will serve as a representative for NCMEC on-air and will alert viewers to missing children as well as provide tips and advice on how to keep children safe as well as what to do when a child is lost.

The BeSAFE initiative showcases local most wanted fugitives, missing children and safety tips every hour, 365 days a year, devoting :90 of on-air inventory to the initiative.  Local servers at the affiliates allow for the content to be localized, which dramatically improves the chances of a fugitive being brought to justice or a child being returned to its family.

"As we continue to expand the BeSAFE societal initiative, adding Callahan Walsh was a natural choice that strengthens Justice’s partnership with NCMEC and brings to the team an accomplished child safety expert,” said Steve Schiffman, CEO of Justice Network.  “Helping to find missing kids as well as locate most wanted fugitives is a core part of the network and everyday I am more and more overwhelmed with the success we’ve had in helping local communities we serve become safer."

Just this month, a most wanted fugitive featured on KSNW-TV (Channel 3.4) was captured thanks to a Justice viewer tip in Wichita, Kansas.   Scott E. Boles was wanted for an outstanding felony warrant for Failing to Register due to his original felony conviction for Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a Child.  Crime Stoppers in Wichita received a tip that led to his arrest.

Through its partnerships with the U.S. Marshals service, Crime Stoppers USA, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and local law enforcement, Justice has aided in the recovery of 65 missing children and the capture of 79 fugitives that have been featured on the network.
